Different insurances must be taken out for the journey.

There is a distinction between personal insurances and car insurances.

The car insurances are taken out collectively with Mandema and partners.

An overview of the required insurances is given below.

The amounts mentioned are indicative. As soon as the insurer’s offer is known, the exact premium amounts will be stated.

A. Personal insurances

A1. Travel insurance

The travel insurance must be taken out by the participants themselves.

If you wish, you can also apply for the travel insurance via the travel organisation.

You must check whether your (continuous) insurance policy also covers foreign countries in Africa.

A2. Cancellation insurance

The cancellation insurance must be taken out by the participants themselves.

You must check whether your (continuous) insurance policy also covers foreign countries in Africa.

If you wish, you can also apply for the cancellation insurance via the travel organisation.

A3. Health insurance

The health insurance must be taken out by the participants themselves.

You should check whether your insurance policy also covers foreign countries in Africa.

B. Car insurances

B.1 WAM (third-party liability)

You are legally obliged to take out WAM insurance for your car.

The WAM insurance of Mandema and partners applies to both personal injury and property damage and is arranged in advance with the authorities.

B2. Casco

In addition to WAM insurance, Casco insurance is also offered. The Casco insurance covers collision damage to your own car and in case of fire, theft and vandalism.

B3. Repatriation

In combination with the Casco insurance, a repatriation insurance is taken out for each car. If for any reason the car remains behind in one of the countries to be visited, it will be returned to your home address in the Netherlands.

The insured amount is 10,000 euros. The premium is included in the casco insurance.

B4. Transport

A separate transport insurance is taken out for possible damage during the transport of the car by boat and the operation in the port of ???????.

For the valuation value of the car, you need to have a recent (not older than 12 months) test report according to the model of the Volvo Classic Association.
